Who do you think would've been the most worthy WSOP Main Event winner this year? (You don't count )


- Well, if you ask me the legitimate World Champion was this year I’d say that Freddie Deeb was a very deserving champion. The HORSE event tests overall poker skill and I think it’s replaced the main event as the premier event at the WSOP.

What is the main reason for you to play poker? Ofcours you earn alot of money, but stil there have to be a few more reasons?


- I love the competitive aspect of poker. I’ve always been a very competitive person and poker allows me to test my skills against the best players in the world. Money really isn’t my motivation anymore, I play for the challenge and to test my skills in big competitions.

Which player at "The Big Game" do you respect/fear the most?


- I think Phil Ivey not only has the best focus, but he also tries harder than everyone else. He’s also extremely talented.

Who do you think is the most handsome male poker player?


- Luckily I’m comfortable with my sexuality otherwise that question might offend some people. Since he was a model and all, I guess you’d have to say Patrick Antonious. I guess he’s pretty for a dude.

Biggest pot you´ve won and lost?


- Well, the biggest pot I lost just so happens to get the most hits on youtube. It was a hand from High Stakes Poker versus Gus Hansen where he hit quads on me. I lost over 300k on the hand.

Daniel, watching you play tought me playing poker the way I do today. That type of aggression naturally yeilds some huge swings and I would like to know how you personally handle big losses?


- If you are a pro, you have no choice but to just forget about it and move on. You can’t dwell on past losses as they shouldn’t matter anymore. It’s over, man up and get over it!

I would like to know how you deal with coldstreak's, you kno...when all the moves you make seem to be wrong and that no matter what you do things arent working out. I havent been on my A game for the past month and have a hard time finding my way back.


- I’d suggest taking some time off and also playing a little smaller until you regain your confidence.


When you were still starting out and absorbing the game, was there a point when you knew inside that you were going to make big waves? If yes, how long had you been playing?


- I think when I was 23 I finally realized that my talent level was good enough to compare to the other good tournament players out there.

- Golf.

- I’m getting better: 21.9

How do you keep focusing and playing your A game for hours in long tournaments? I tend to stop concentrating after a while, getting to distracted and making wrong moves which usually cost me my tournament life.


- Take breaks from the game once in a while to stay rested, but when things get serious give it your all.

Daniel, when your full house lost to Gus Hansen's four of a kind you sat back, smiled and said, "nice hand". How did you really feel deep down inside & how do you hide that so well?


- I was annoyed with the way the hand played out. Gus made a crazy play to check the river and it wasn’t supposed to work, but it ended up winning him the maximum.

- It’s fun, as long as you bring ear plugs.

Daniel you seem really down to earth and I know alot of pros let the fame go to their head and they "forget" where they came from but that doesn't seem to have happened to you. What do you feel has kept you so real and grounded?


- I don’t buy into the whole celebrity thing at all. It’s kind of stupid if you ask me. Dude, I play poker, I’m good at it, that’s about it. I didn’t cure cancer, I’m not a hero, I’m just good at a game. It’s important to always put things in perspective.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years from now?


- Golfing a lot, raising a family, and travelling in Europe. I’ll also still be playing the big tournaments.

When did you start playing poker?
How did you build your bankroll in the beginning? Did you build it slowly or gambling?


- I started at the age of 17. I was playing in a 1-5 dealers choice game and didn’t need much of a bankroll for that. When I went broke I borrowed money as people who played with me knew that I’d win the money back eventually and pay them.

What do you think of the trash talking in poker? How do you react if one or more players at your table start trash talking either after a bad beat or just criticizing someone's play in order to destabilize him? Do you ever do it yourself?


- I don’t mind talking, but trash talk is for immature children and while it will never go away, I think it’s silly for the most part.

I was wondering if you still get nervous before a game? Or during a game, does your heart race when you're praying that your opponent will fold with that bluff you made? Mine about jumped out of my chest yesterday online. Also, what is some advice for making the transition from online play to live play? I've never played for live cash, always play chips. Any advice would be helpful!


- I don’t get nervous at the poker table at all anymore. As for making a transition to live, the only way to do it is to get some hours under your belt so you can become more comfortable.
