Here's an extract of the press conference Marc and Gavin just attended.
(Marc, Gavin, Gavin's girlfriend)
So, Gavin - tell us a bit more about your charity please.
Well, me and my girlfriend are going to do a charity run soon, for the aid of breast cancer research... she got breast cancer a few years ago and we want to raise the public interest for it so that more people can get better treatment.
What did you think of Marc?
He played really well, and he won lots of small pots. I mean, I knew he was dangerous and I really had to concentrate.
Could you both guide us through the final hand?
Gavin: I never thought he had a really good hand, he didn't play it that way. And I figured I probably had 15 outs twice.
Marc: Gavin knew I could have anything as I had been raising a lot on the button and bluffed. I didn't expect him to have a hand like pocket eights or nines, I thought he would have flat-called in that case. And if he had a lower pocket pair, I might force him to fold.
Gavin, how does this compare to your WSOP win?
Well... obviously, this was more money. But there's nothing that compares to your first WSOP bracelet as far as poker goes; I mean, it's the WSOP, it's the biggest series of poker events there is. But still, this ranks highly too of course. The structure was awesome. What's that? How I like Europe so far? It's alright, haha.
You seemed to be a bit unhealthy towards the end Gavin, what was that about?
I never really noticed, as my girlfriend can tell you I kinda forget that I'm hungry or tired when I'm in the middle of a session. She worries more for me than I do.
Congratulations again, Marc Karam, on placing second, and congratulations Gavin Griffin, on winning the EPT Monte Carlo 2007!
